One thing I've learned in my years of living is that you can't make anyone love you the way that you want them to unless that is exactly what they want to do effortlessly. At some point you're going to have to either let them love you like they know how or let them go.
It's up to you to decide what your spirit can take. I think Aretha said it best with her song ain't no way. Also, Kenny Lattimore has remade this song on his new cd and it is very very good!
Check out Aretha
so very true...only u become a better person because of it
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Aretha said it best. You just did a damn good job of it yourself with fewer words.
ReplyDeleteWhen does kenny's cd come out?
ReplyDeleteah, love this post. so fitting for all of us who love hard.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't of said that any better! it struck home but was real and true!
ReplyDeleteA lesson well learned.
ReplyDeletelove and trust. it is trusting the one you love to return the love given. I guess it is learning to accept the way love is returned from a lover.
ReplyDeleteWow! Just, well... WOW! Letting someone love you the only way they know how to is very deep. It can be troubling sometimes, but when people know better, they ultimately do better. Currently someone who calls themselves loving me is not fulfilling my own definition of Love (which is pretty damn expansive)... so these words you've written have caused me to *ponder*!
ReplyDeleteOne.
So true, and I love that song by Aretha.
ReplyDeleteit is hard to let someone love you the best way they know how. we have all these thoughts/ideas/illusions of what love is supposed to look, feel, and simply be like that when it's presented to us in a way that we're not expecting. well...
ReplyDeleteThere is a song by R&B artist Terisa Griffin called, "Better Love Yourself".
ReplyDeleteThe song speaks about this and the need to love yourself "before love lets you down".
So many times we chase love from others when all we have to do is look within.
I have always choosen to let them go. I don't have time to be playing. C ya!
ReplyDeleteI have not clicked on Aretha yet, but I have a good idea what the song is going to be. And since I loves me some Aretha, I am headed there next.
