At Times
At times life offers very cruel solutions for one's reality.
Let me get out of my Matrix movie mode and say, life will always offer you choices. There just happens to be no guarantee that any choice that you make will be a good one. Whether you take the blue pill or the red one, either one will turn out to have consequences.
I'm currently writing a novel that explores this very theme. And though you left your statement very open-ended, I can say that sometimes Life requires us to rise to the stresses, the chemical-imbalances, the voices, & the challenges of mental illness by providing us w/ 'cruel solutions' that can take us further away from our Essential Selves.
